Calls for Art Guidelines

General Call for Art Guidelines - Unless specified on the individual art shows listed below.

Eligibility: Open to all Colorado artists
Media: Any 2-D or 3-D fine art media, including photography, digital art, clay, glass, jewelry, etc. All work must be original (no prints).
Entries:

  • Each artist may submit up to three (3) works.

  • No substitutions of artwork after registration.

  • Work must not have been shown previously in a Lakewood Arts exhibition.

  • Size: Maximum size 30” wide

Fees: (Fees are non-refundable.)

  • Non-Member: $15 each or up to 3 works for $35

  • LAC Member: $10 each or up to 3 works for $25 (must be a current member)

How to Submit Entries:

  • Complete registration and pay the entry fee – Register online, in the gallery or by mail to the gallery.

  • Registration must be RECEIVED by the deadline.

  • Include the following information with each picture - name, title, medium, size, and price.

Submit Digital Images (Entries) for inclusion in the show’s website virtual gallery:

  • Email entries to Emi Burr at ekburrdesign@gmail.com by registration deadline.

  • Subject: “Title of The Show”. Include: Artist name, title, medium, size, and price for each piece.

Specifications:

  • Works must be dry, framed, or have wrapped, painted edges with staples visible only on the back.

  • Wall-hung work must be ready for hanging with screw-eyes or D-rings and wire (no saw tooth or clip hangers).

  • Entries with broken glass, chipped frames, or non-functional wires will not be accepted.

  • Works must be identified on the back (or bottom if 3-D) with the artist’s name, phone number, and title of work.

Awards: 1st place: $100 2nd place: $75 3rd place: $50 Honorable Mentions: Based on number of entrants

Sales:

  • Works must be for sale.

  • Artists will be notified of any sales at the end of the show.

  • A 25% commission will be charged on each work sold.

  • Sold items may be picked up by the purchaser after the end of the show.

  • Sales will be handled by Lakewood Arts.

  • Checks will be sent approximately 2 weeks following month end after the closing date of the show.

Holiday gift market

Lakewood Arts invites artists to showcase their creativity in our Holiday Gift Market, a five-week event through the holidays. We feature a selection of fine art and gift-worthy items for holiday shoppers and art lovers. All types of media are welcome and prints and multiples are encouraged. Keep in mind that shoppers will be looking for items that are easy to gift, ready to hang, display, or use. There’s no specific theme, just a chance to have your work seen in a well-lit gallery by holiday shoppers.

Fees: $35 Non-member, $25 LAC members, $10 Co-op members
Show Dates:
Saturday, November 23rd, 2024 - Saturday, December 28th, 2024
Registration Deadline: Saturday, November 16th, 2024 (postmarked, hand-delivered, or online)
Location: Lakewood Arts Gallery, 6501 W Colfax Ave., Lakewood, CO 80214
Artist must deliver artwork ready to show on Saturday, November 23rd, 2024. Drop off time between 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM
Pick Up Work at End of Show: Saturday, December 28th, 2024 between 9:00 AM - 10:30 AM – No early pick-up. LAC is not responsible for safety of art picked up late.

Each artist may display handmade arts and crafts such as fiber, baskets, pottery, glass, wood, lotions/soaps, ornaments, cards, etc. The number of items depends on size and available space. We reserve the right to place items in reserve stock under the table. Large items are discouraged, and the gallery may limit the number of pieces displayed.
No work made from kits; all items must be original. Jewelry is restricted to LAC members only.

Tagging: Each item must have an inventory number and price. Use this format for inventory numbers: first initial, first 3 letters of last name, a dash, and item number (e.g., JSmi-01). Make sure prices are clear and not confused with the item number.

Inventory Sheet: List all items on an 8.5 x 11" sheet, including your name, address, and phone number, along with item numbers and prices. Bring this sheet in when delivering your artwork. You can download a premade inventory sheet template by clicking the link below.

Theme: Nature-inspired artwork showcasing the beauty of Belmar Park. 2-D pieces only. Maximum width of 30"
Show Dates: Saturday, December 28th, 2024 - Saturday, January 25th, 2025
Public Reception and Award Announcement: Friday, January 3rd, 2025 at 6:30 PM
Registration Deadline: Saturday, December 14th, 2024 (postmarked, hand-delivered, or online)

Jurying for acceptance and awards done live at 12:00 PM. LAC strives to hang all entries.

Wall Rental

Have a group of friends to share display space? Ready to go solo?

We have Exhibit spaces available for monthly rental. We are currently taking reservations for 2025.  Bookings will be made on a first-come basis. Lakewood Arts Council (LAC) reserves the right to refuse to display or book exhibits it deems inappropriate to its goals.

~ Community Walls: For individual displays. $55 per month for non-members, $40 per month for LAC members. 

5.5 feet x 5.5 feet of prime wall display space, center stage.

~ Spotlight Wall: 3 freestanding panels, Total 12 feet wide by 6 feet tall. Free exhibit space for schools and non-profits. If you are an Art Teacher, we would like to display your student’s art. Non-Profit that wants to sell art as donations to your organization?  Contact us to arrange a show.

~ Acorn Gallery: $200 per month. For Art Groups. Our premier exhibit space consists of 11 freestanding panels and 2 walls:

·         Panels are four foot wide by six foot tall 8 of which are 2-sided, 3 of which are 1 sided

·         One 18 foot by 5 foot hanging area

·         One 10 foot by 5 foot hanging area
